Moving Tips
It's a good idea to pay your new neighborhood a visit with your kids before you move in so they can know what to expect. If your child participated in any clubs or organizations such as the scouts or a sporting league, be sure to sign them up for similar activities to help them adjust to their new environment. Encourage your kids to keep in contact with their old friends by exchanging addresses and phone numbers to ease the transition.
When disassembling your electronics, be sure to follow the manufacturers' advice in your manual. You can usually find specific instructions on the manufacturer's website if you can't find it. Invest in color stickers and tag each cord if your devices have multiple cords and cables. This is a good way to facilitate the reassembling process once you're ready to hook them up again in your new home.
You should check on items you haven't unpacked since your last move such as holiday decorations or unsentimental items. Chances are, the boxes and containers these items have been left in are ripped, torn, or worn from overuse. Go into your attic or basement and repack these items in new, sturdier cartons.
Moving can be an exhausting affair if you're unsure how to begin. For those who've never moved to a completely different city, it can induce bouts of anxiety and stress that may last until you finally move in.
